Tagete flower

The Tagete or Damasquinas is also known by other names: Moorish flower, African carnation, Turkish carnation or Indian carnation that have nothing to do with their place of origin, Mexico. It belongs to the summer season, being the months of great flowering from April to November.

This edible flower has a warm color (orange and yellow). In addition its dimensions are majestic.

Pairing

This edible flower is perfect to remove the petals from, as it provides color, as for example for salads. In addition, the tagete brings an intense aroma and a certain citric taste. It is a  very appreciated flower in the Arab kitchen, its petals are used in soup dishes, salads and the cuscú. They are also suitable for accompanying cheeses due to their slight spiciness.

Medicinal properties

Beyond the gastronomy, tagete a good remedy for candidiasis and, in infusion, it is used to relieve cough. It can also be cooked and used as an inflammatory and disinfectant. In addition, stand out among its healing properties is that it is a great ally of the liver and digestive system.

A very versatile edible flower, which in addition to being widely used in modern cooking is also a perfect home remedy to fight diseases.
