AFLORITA | Dehydrated mini rose petals

Dehydration is another way of preserving mini rose petals. It consists of softly dehydrating the edible flower, so we obtain a natural and crispy product. the main difference with the lyophilized mini rose petals is that the dehydrated ones lose a bit of their shape due to the longer duration of the process.

In the kitchen, we can use it by rehydrating rose petals, to add them to a sauce, a soup or a cake’s dough.

Description

AFLORITA | Dehydrated mini rose petals

Dehydrated mini rose petals. It belongs to the Rosaceae family. Although it exists in a wide range of colours, in Innoflower we serve it in red and pink.

This is a middle east native plant. Throughout history, roses have been subjected to intense selection and hybridizations in order to create new shapes and varieties. So, nowadays, we have more than 30.000 species. In symbology, each colour has a meaning. For example, blue is related to miracles and new possibilities.

Roses are cultivated mainly for ornamental purposes because of its beauty and scent. But they are also cultivated for the extraction of essential oils in the perfume industry and cosmetics, for medicinal purposes (fitotherapy) and for gastronomic uses.

Medicinal properties

Rose has several curative properties, both the scent and the rose water are used as a tonic, collyrium… Jams with wild roses are also prepared, due to their high content of vitamin C.

Roses also have healing properties for burns and skin scars. They are even useful for dermatitis an for the prevention of stretch marks in pregnancy. Rose has great regenerative power, and that is why it is very common to see this flower in the composition of many creams of well-known (and not so well-known) brands.

Pairing

The uses of dehydrated rose petals in the kitchen vary from salty dishes to sweet dishes. They can be used in meats, seafood, salads, desserts, sauces, tapas and cocktails. Its texture is crispy so we recommend to rehydrate it if you want to obtain a uniform texture. If you want to obtain contrasts in the dish, there is no need to rehydrate.

We can also use dehydrated rose petals to decorate and create volume in the dish. Although they are medium-sized (between 1 and 2 cm), they are really easy to add to a dish. For instance, in a birthday cake or a cream.

Another way of using rose petals is to add them to our  favourite infusion or ever make lollipops with them. There are a a lot of uses in the kitchen, you just have to use a little bit of inventiveness and creativity.

We also have mini rose petals in other formats, fresh, crystallized or lyophilized.
